About the role

We're looking for an experienced Carpenter to join our Repairs team, delivering excellent repairs and maintenance services across our homes and communities.

You'll carry out a wide range of carpentry repairs and maintenance work in residents' homes, aiming to complete repairs right first time wherever possible. From responsive repairs through to planned maintenance work, you'll play an important role in helping us provide safe, secure and well-maintained homes for our residents.

This is a mobile role, covering Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and surrounding counties. You'll work independently for much of the day, supported by a wider team of skilled trades colleagues and managers. You'll be provided with a company vehicle, fuel card and mobile technology to help manage your workload and keep records up to date.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out carpentry repairs and maintenance work to a high standard, completing repairs right first time wherever possible

• Complete responsive repairs, planned maintenance work and follow on repairs across our housing stock

• Ensure all repairs are completed safely and in line with relevant legislation, regulations and company procedures

• Accurately complete job records, paperwork and updates using mobile working technology

• Deliver excellent customer service and represent SettleParadigm professionally at all times

• Build positive relationships with residents and colleagues

• Identify and report safeguarding concerns, property issues or health and safety risks

• Use materials, equipment and resources efficiently whilst minimising waste

• Maintain appropriate van stock levels to support daily repairs

• Ensure company vehicles, PPE, equipment and identification are used and maintained correctly

• Work independently and alongside colleagues to identify practical solutions to repair issues

• Support, coach and mentor apprentices and developing members of the team when required

• Purchase materials where authorised and ensure all associated paperwork is completed accurately and on time

• Leave work areas clean, safe and tidy upon completion

About You

Essential

• City & Guilds, NVQ qualification or equivalent experience in Carpentry

• Significant experience carrying out carpentry repairs and maintenance work

• Experience working within property maintenance, repairs or a similar environment

• Good knowledge of construction legislation, building regulations and health and safety requirements

• Good literacy and numeracy skills

• Full UK driving licence

• Ability to work on your own initiative

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong communication skills

• Commitment to delivering excellent customer service

• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively

• Willingness to participate in the out of hours on call rota when required
