Location: High Wycombe or Letchworth Garden City – hybrid working (2 days in the office, 3 days from home / site visits)

We are now looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Advisor to join our team and help us maintain a safe, healthy and legally compliant working environment across the organisation.
About the role
As our Health and Safety Advisor, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting colleagues, managers and leaders to understand their responsibilities and embed safe working practices. You’ll provide expert advice, carry out risk assessments, lead investigations, deliver training and support continuous improvement across all areas of health and safety.
This is a hands‑on, varied and highly influential role where you’ll work across multiple sites, teams and disciplines. You’ll help shape our safety culture, ensure compliance with legislation and internal standards, and contribute to the wellbeing of everyone who interacts with our organisation.
What you’ll do
Provide professional advice, guidance and support on all health and safety matters
Ensure compliance with legislation, standards and internal policies through proactive monitoring, audits and inspections
Conduct and review risk assessments and safe systems of work across a range of activities
Lead or support incident and near‑miss investigations, identifying root causes and corrective actions
Develop and deliver health and safety training, toolbox talks, inductions and briefings
Support the creation, review and implementation of policies, procedures and safe working processes
Promote and encourage the use of the organisation’s Health and Safety System
Carry out internal audits, weekly inspections and maintain accurate records and reports
Monitor compliance with DSE and Lone Worker procedures
Support the development and testing of emergency procedures including fire evacuation plans and drills
Review contractor documentation, permits and risk assessments, ensuring safe working practices
Promote a positive safety culture through engagement, coaching and communication
Provide ongoing support to the Head of Health and Safety and Health and Safety Manager

Strong compliance with legislation, policies and safe working practices
Clear, accurate and timely reporting of risks, incidents and performance trends
Effective risk assessments and safe systems of work in place across all areas
Well‑supported colleagues who understand their responsibilities and feel confident working safely
A positive, proactive safety culture embedded across the organisation
Smooth delivery of audits, inspections, emergency procedures and training
Continuous improvement in health and safety processes and behaviours
What we’re looking for
Must haves
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised health and safety qualification
Experience providing health and safety advice in a multi‑disciplinary or complex environment
Experience conducting risk assessments, safe systems of work, audits and incident investigations
Experience developing and delivering training or safety briefings
Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and codes of practice
Understanding of risk management principles and root‑cause analysis
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and engage colleagues at all levels
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail
Ability to interpret legislation and translate it into practical guidance
Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
Confident producing clear, accurate documentation and reports
Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office and incident or compliance management systems
Full driving licence and a car with business insurance plus willingness to travel across Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire
Nice to haves
Experience analysing safety performance data and producing reports for leadership
Experience contributing to safety culture or behavioural safety programmes
IOSH membership (TechIOSH or GradIOSH)
NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate
Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015

Working Hours
37 hours per week
Monday to Thursday 09:00 to 17:30
Friday 09:00 to 17:00
Hybrid working, 2 days per week in the office, 3 days per week working from home.
