About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Window and Door Fitter (Installation Technician) to join our Planned Works UPVC team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining various window and door systems, including UPVC, Aluminium, Composite, and Wood, in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
You will work in a team of two, delivering high quality service to our customers in their homes. A friendly and polite manner is as important as competence and high standards of work in your trade.
We’ll equip you with:
- A fully equipped hybrid van and fuel card
- An electronic tablet to access scheduled jobs and company news
- A mobile phone and work clothing
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain window and door systems (UPVC, Aluminium, Composite, and Wood) in line with building codes, legislation, and regulations
- Accurately measure for glazing, windows, and doors, following drawings and plans for installation
- Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance services on window glazing systems, door systems, and fixtures
- Conduct interior and exterior trim repairs to cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in homes
What We’re Looking For
Must haves:
- Relevant qualification/certifications or minimum 5 years’ experience in window and door fitting
- Experience/knowledge of UPVC, Aluminium, Composite, and Wood systems across residential, commercial, and industrial buildings
- Ability to take accurate measurements and follow technical drawings/plans
- Experience in scheduled/reactive maintenance on glazing and door systems
- Ability to repair and maintain doors, windows, and fixtures
- Physically fit to undertake daily duties
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Good numeracy skills for calculating quantities
- Relevant City & Guilds or NVQ or equivalent carpentry trade experience
- Sound knowledge of legislation and Codes of Practice (construction, building regulations, health & safety)
- Reasonable literacy and numeracy skills
- Full valid manual UK driving licence
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Clear and effective communication skills
- Commitment to excellent customer service standards
- Ability to manage time, prioritise workload, and meet deadlines
- Willingness to participate in the out-of-hours on-call rota
Nice to haves:
- Experience across multiple building types (residential, commercial, industrial)
- Strong organisational skills and flexibility
- Experience in social housing/local authority.

- Hours: Full-time, permanent role (42.5 hours per week).
